Naihan’s I AM A MONUMENT – CCTV is featured in Phaidon, a premier global publisher of the creative arts. The article talks about Rem Koolhaas’ famous building for the national television broadcasters, CCTV remade as a wardrobe. Creative Chinese designer Naihan Li has made a new version of CCTV building to store such essential clothing items in. I AM A MONUMENT CCTV will go on a show in Design Miami/, presented by Gallery ALL this December.
CCTV wardrobe is one of the latest piece in Nathan’s I AM A MONUMENT series, which centers on the designer’s ongoing exploration of architecture-turned furniture over the past 2 years. Other works in the collection include an Edinburgh palm house, a New York Stock Exchange-turned shrine, a Pentagon-turned daybed, and a United Nations headquarter building-turned bookcase. This series takes inspiration from the legend of the Han Dynasty emperor, who had the entire landscape of China reproduced in miniature bonsai trees in his garden, so he could gaze upon it from his bedroom window.
